Hathor

LAND ART at Furlo 2014
Inside the installation "Rebirth" by Isabella Lacquaniti

The project designed to be realized within Isabella Lacquaniti's installation aims to retrace and emphasize the cycle of life marked by the work "Rebirth" through a revisitation of the myth of the Egyptian goddess Hathor.

The myth

Hathor is a very ancient deity of Egyptian mythology connected to the archetype of the Great Mothers.

The goddess Hathor is considered the protector of the sources of the Nile and the creative power of the floods, as well as the protector of the arts, music and song.

As Mother she is the Goddess of childbirth and birth. Famous in this regard is the ancient belief that at the birth of a child the Goddess would materialize to pay homage to the newborn by predicting its fate.

As of birth, Hathor is also identified as the patroness of the bodies of the dead, her possession as they were given birth by herself.

There are many rituals dedicated to her figure one of which involved leading cows to pasture and milking them, thus pouring the freshly milked milk onto the hungry ground, as a sacrifice to the goddess.

The sistrum

The goddess is often depicted with the sistrum, a rattle equipped with metal discs strung on one or more sticks.

The sound of the sistrum is the voice of the Goddess Hathor, that is, the very voice of the Mother, who continues to "sing" for us even after our birth, reminding us not to stop seeking universal harmony.
